Home Pickup FAQ
WHAT IS HOME PICKUP?
Home pickup is the easiest way to recycle your clothes. Our home pickup fleet will come to your residence or business and take your clothing items to keep them out of the landfill.
which areas are served by home pickup?
We currently offer home pickup service in Westchester County, New York.
i live outside of the current home pickup area. will you be offering home pickup in additional areas in the future?
We will be expanding our service area later this year to additional locations in the Northeast US. Signup here for updates if you want to be notified when we expand our service area.
what kind of CLOTHING items do you take?
We can only take clothing, shoes and linens.
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE CLOTHING?
95% of what we collect is reused, upcycled or recycled. 75% is reusable, 20% is recyclable. It is first sorted by our partners and divided into grades. The higher grades are resold to thrift stores in North America and other second hand markets around the world. The lower grades get turned into rags for industrial use or things like stuffing and insulation. Clothing reuse is a big deal. It reduces the enormous environmental burden of the second most polluting industry in the world.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Nothing! Home pickup is a completely free service.
which days/times is home pickup offered?
Home pickup is offered 7 days a week from 7am to 5pm EST.
HOW MUCH NOTICE IS REQUIRED TO SCHEDULE A HOME PICKUP?
Please give us at least one day's notice. If you specify today's date as your preferred pickup date we may be able to stop by if we already have drivers in the area, but we can only guarantee home pickups with at least day's notice.
do i have to be home during the pickup?
No. We don't mind picking up your clothing bags from an outside location such as a front porch or driveway. If possible, please place your clothing bags under a covered area such as a porch or carport so they stay dry if it rains.
what should i do with my clothing items when i place them outside?
Please place your clothing items in clean bags (e.g. unused garbage bags) and label them clearly if they're in proximity to other bagged items such as yard waste or household garbage. If possible, please place your clothing bags under a covered area such as a porch or carport so they stay dry if it rains.
